Kwena Kgomo joined LvA in May 2022. She obtained a short course in Office Administration from IQ Academy (NQF Level 4) and a Caregiver Certificate from Alison. In July 2017, she received an opportunity to volunteer at an organisation called NCVT, where she served until 2022. During those years, she gained dedicated experience supporting the organisation in reaching statistical targets and reducing the number of GBV cases. She also helped families build peaceful home environments by conducting home visits. Through the program, she taught children about their rights and responsibilities in crèches, mentored children with behavioural challenges, and had the opportunity to work at the Diepsloot Police Station, where the organisation operates a victim support office. Through LvA, she obtained a certificate in Basic Counselling Skills and attended a trauma-informed workshop. She developed facilitation skills, conducted clinic talks, and built stakeholder relationships. Her experience working with the community deepened her understanding of confidentiality. At LvA, she also learned the importance of team building and collaboration, and she demonstrated a strong passion for her work. Additionally, she gained some experience in office administration.
