Nthabiseng Mokoena joined LvA’s board in 2021 with extensive experience in the field of gender-based violence. Nthabiseng served as a specialist sexual offences prosecutor with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for 17 years and later acted as a magistrate in the Johannesburg family courts, focusing on domestic violence. During this time, she has trained prosecutors and SAPS members on the management and prosecution of sexual offences and medical practitioners from Thuthuzela Care Centres and other hospitals on their role as expert witnesses in sexual offences cases. Nthabiseng has also coordinated awareness campaigns on GBV in churches and local primary and secondary schools, spoken about her experiences at public events and in media interviews, and is currently training other women as GBV activists in her church. In 2021, Nthabiseng joined the Johannesburg Bar and is practicing as an advocate with the Maisels Group in Sandton, Johannesburg.
