Dr. Sheena Swemmer joined LvA’s board in June 2024 and has extensive experience combatting gender-based violence and advocating for gender-justice throughout her career. Sheena is the head of the Gender Justice Programme at the Centre for Applied Legal Studies (CALS) and is also a proctor for the UCT Special Tribunal for Sexual Offences. She holds an LLB and a BA (honours) in English Literature & Language from the University of Witwatersrand, an LLM in human rights from the University of Johannesburg and a Doctor of Law in human rights from the University of Johannesburg.
