Teboho Mashota joined LvA in March 2022. Teboho holds a National Diploma in Public Relations, a National Diploma in Paralegal Studies and is currently completing a BA Social Sciences in community development after which she plans to pursue a Law degree. Teboho is a social justice/gender activist with over 20 years in the NGO sector. Before joining LvA, Teboho worked as a Legal Advisor for POWA, a Paralegal/Project Coordinator for Lawyers for Human Rights, a Legal Advisor at the Women’s Legal Centre where she provided legal support to sex workers and advocated for their rights and Tshwaranang Legal Advocacy Centre amongst others. Teboho was also instrumental in putting pressure on the President to agree to a Gender Summit which subsequently let to the National Strategic Plan on GBVF after the #totalshutdown protest led by Call-to-Action group. She is also the co-founder of Remmoho Womxn’s forum, an organisation that led the mini-skirt march to noort taxi rank in 2008, and currently serving as a board member of the National Shelter Movement and a National Working Group member of the Right to Know campaign. She is also the co-founder of the Anti-Privatisation Forum and served on the Right to Protect steering committee housed by CALS. Teboho is a Marxist feminism who is passionate about womxn’s rights and a former member of the Socialist Group. She believes in equality and that one day we will have a world free from violence and injustices.
